NAHS has 3 IB options for juniors and seniors.
The first two are FULL Programme options. Students must engage in the full programme for two years (meaning they take the required number of IB courses plus take the IB Core course for the program (IB TOK or IB PPS) plus complete the CORE work for the program.
DP – Extended Essay and Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS)
CP – Reflective Project, Service learning, and Language Development
At the end of their senior year and after they take their IB exams, student could potentially receive the IB Diploma or the IB Career Related Certificate
The third option (IB courses) above is when a student takes 1-2 IB courses but does not engage in either full program. This is similar to taking AP courses. The benefit here is that the student’s schedule is more open to other courses or programs such as taking AP classes or Dual Enrollment.
See the PowerPoint called “IB CP or DP?” in this tab to learn the requirements for all three IB options.
